Yesterday our travels took us to Rumley’s Open Farm which is situated just 5 minutes out of Cork City.
Getting our bearings at Rumley’s Open Farm
The kids and I have often meant to stop in and visit but have usually left leaving the city for our journey back to West Cork too late and so, when the opportunity presented itself to us yesterday, we jumped at it.

Rumley’s is a unique experience in that it is actually also a working farm and a lot of the produce in the shop is sourced from the farm. There is also a cafe onsite which has a scrumptious menu, using all local and farm produce.

With over 2km of walkways – all with wheelchair and buggy accessibility – and over 20 acres to explore, there is plenty to keep you busy.
What a PIG!
Aside from seeing all the fantastic animals – which include, skunks, camels, lemurs, Emu’s and many more, we also saw numerous picnic spots and were sorry that we didn’t bring snacks with us.
Crazy Golf picnic spot.
The kids were amazed by how many activities are on offer – we saw a covered sand play area, a go-cart track, crazy golf, a soccer pitch, a playground with a very unusual playhouse, an adventure area, indoor soft play area, as well as air hockey and table tennis.
Zipping down the Zipwire.
All in all it was a great visit and the children were absorbed watching a snowy owl tear into his rat-ty dinner and by being able to hold and pet the little puppies.
