Mella’s Fudge is one of the most delicious products available – both young and old just cannot get enough of it! It is perfectly made, beautifully packaged and comes in a variety of flavours.
According to ‘The Bridgestone Irish Food Guide’, John and Sally McKenna have this to say ‘Fudge is a difficult product to master, with many fudge makers erring on the side of sweetness and, thereby, sickliness. Mella errs on the right side of sweetness, so her four fudges – vanilla, rum ‘n’ raisin, chocolate, and walnut – are pure swooshes of buttery goodness and energy without a David Lynch-style sugar jag following through at the end.’
Mella began making fudge while she was still at school and has gradually built up her enterprise. Initially she sold her fudge at Bantry Fair on a Friday and at Manning’s Emporium in Ballylickey but now has a wide selection of list stockists. Her home-kitchen produce now commands a unit kitchen in Lisavaird Co-Op near Clonakilty and Mella’s awards keep rolling in as a credit to the quality of her fudge.
The ‘Guild of Fine Food’s Great Taste Awards’ are one of the most recognised and prestigious awards in the industry and Mella’s Fudge has won 1,2 and 3 Gold Star awards! Mella’s Fudge is the only fudge in Ireland to have won such awards. Well done Mella!
West Cork with Kids would like to extend a HUGE word of thanks to MELLA for being such a sport and sponsoring us with the past 5 weeks worth of Scenic Sunday Prizes! I am sure that all the winners really enjoyed their spoils.
Thank you Mella and Good Luck with your future ventures! x
