I would love to know what your greatest adrenalin rush in West Cork has been (aside from meeting an oncoming truck on a narrow road wide enough for just one of you). You would think that after these many visits to a maternity ward I would be tougher but I am actually easily terrified and some situations I have got myself into in West Cork have left me with my heart hammering and knees knocking with fright!

My personal top 3 on the scare factor –
1. Crossing the suspension Bridge at Mizen Head. (Nothing induces vertigo faster than watching seagulls soar – beneath you.)
2. Crossing to Dursey Island on Ireland’s only cable car. (I think it was the little font of holy water that put the final fear into me.)
3. Kissing the Blarney stone (although just a stone throw – no pun intended – from West Cork) For this activity, I thought I would have to be airlifted down as I just could not co-ordinate my arms and legs once I got up there – and strangely, coming down was harder! I would have hated to live in an establishment that left me feeling so stupendously vulnerable each time I needed to climb two flights to use the bathroom or raid the kitchen.
What has scared the wits out of you in West Cork recently?
